Now THIS is cool. The new Plaza Transit Stop will serve streetcars AND buses. Today the #kcstreetcar & RideKC team tested out the interface & movements at the transit hub between these two modes of public transit.

Took advantage of my ebike share membership all day and buzzed to work, lunch, happy hour, and back home. Got a little sunburnt but it was so worth it.

RideKC Bike isn't on here yet, so heads up we pulled many bikes off the street before the storm & closed operations thru today to keep our crew safe

Thanks for your patience as we return to normal deployment levels when conditions improve. Thankfully KCMO predated mobility lanes b4 the snow!🤞🏻🚲❄️

RideKC Streetcar numbers. June ridership was nearly 700,000! We'll get a more complete picture on the World Cup's ridership impact next month.

Mission, the first city I have done that has an official transit center from RideKC. I like the legibility of this map, but I had to add some new elements to enforce which buses stop where.

My biggest city yet in Joco for my map series for RideKC. I had some extra space because Leawood is so looooooong so I included the bike line map that they had linked on the city's website. Let me know what you think

“As a disabled person, no thanks. Put in a bench that's useful for people, that people can sit on, or you might as well not even bother.”

RideKC is getting a lot of blowback over its new "leaning benches." https://loom.ly/Z1RTgpk
RideKC installed leaning benches at bus stops. Kansas City riders call them 'insulting'
The Kansas City transit agency has installed narrow leaning benches at busy bus stops downtown and touted them as an accessible amenity. But riders and experts disagree and say they’re made to make people uncomfortable.

Since RideKC and KCATA don't have a BlueSky I guess I am just posting this out here. Here is a diagram I just made for the Mission Transit Center in Mission, KS for anyone to use (including RideKC since they obvi. didn't have one) I imagine that the buses that serve this center will change but here🌻

it’s not a new story, but one that’s impacting new groups of riders everyday.

A $30 Million Dollar shortfall that will result in the loss of 13 routes and cuts to weekend service if left unresolved.

Props to RideKC last night. Leaving via streetcar was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the first time. Clear, organized, and efficient when I got on. I don’t know if it regressed or anything after but it was great.

I believe RideKC is contractually obligated to make sure riders have no idea when or if any bus may be coming at any time

This thread is important but this point is really important. We see it playing out in Kansas City as our RideKC system is cutting 10% of our routes & as far as I know, only one board member uses any form of transit at all that isn't a staged photo op. The last CEO wasn't a transit user either.
It's why I fervently agree with @transittrekker.bsky.social and @nondriver.bsky.social that transit agency governing bodies need *actual full-time transit riders* on their boards. It's why modal advisory boards are important to serve on even if their cities only listen half of the time.
