Change of plans: Wolfy had a smöl choking scare last night and so we’ll be avoiding the backcountry while we monitor her eating patterns and recovery from a scratched throat.
Instead, we’ll do a fun (& warm & dry!) car camp and a couple of shorter day hikes. #rushtoharpersferry

“Ok, if I sleep at the trailhead & start at 4:30am, we’ll be mostly done with 2,000+ ft of elevation gain before the 18 hours of steady drizzle kicks in. Then it’s just +8mi to camp and setting up my tent in the rain…not bad!”

We did it! 14 miles, over 7 hours, Nearly 4k feet up and over 4k feet back down—a long day.
The pups did awesome, as usual. They love having Auntie with us.
Soon the humans will venture off in search of fried food and wine, and the dogs will have a snoozle.

-yes, it did make our 2.5 hour drive home take 5(!!!) hours;
-but, we are home safe, warm, dry & happy!
