For some unknown reason, Baroness Falkner was seated in unmarked seat on the panel at yesterday‘s evidence session by the Parliamentary scrutiny committee, despite not being a member of the committee.
If anyone knows what she was doing there or why she was allowed to sit there, let me know

When I used to carve pumpkins my cats would sit around the newspaper in a semicircle, watching. And waiting politely for me to roast the seeds, which they liked to eat, oddly enough.
I think when I shared floor space with them they figured something good for them would come of it.

Buskers will know who I mean. A Mr Murphy, I think. Used to ban people for things like "playing the flute" or "standing slightly outside the semicircle". Eventually got the station removed from the busking scheme. Looked exactly like that only not so cheerful.

I do variations on the Pointing Meme a lot partly because I like Spidey and partly because there are figs I tend to buy multiples of.

‘The Wink’ by Louis Wain (1860-1939) is a black ink illustration on ecru drawing paper. Six black cats, on hind legs, paws joined in a semicircle, are seen from behind. The cats seem to be dancing under barren trees on a cold night, as a cheerfully mischievous full moon gives them a wink. The consistent asymmetrical balance of Wain’s work is what makes his paintings & illustrations so immediately likable. Often featuring whimsical portrayals of anthropomorphic cats, one can trace the ups & downs in the artist’s feelings and functioning. Despite Wain having spent many of his late years under inpatient psychiatric care, he managed to reach through time to delight us with his unique, sometimes goth & sometimes psychedelic visuals of cutesy creature characters. This one is a festive choice for Halloween.
