@nature.com have published an important paper with *negative* results on neural control of emotion regulation: 'none of the three indicators showed the expected association with canonical prefrontal regulatory circuits'

Fab seeing a negative result paper like this.

Emotional regulation is crucial for many aspects of life, yet a recent @nature.com paper suggests we may have oversimplified its neural basis. Across 40 fMRI datasets and 2,175 participants, researchers found no shared neural signature of emotion regulation capacity www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Proprioception and vestibular balance require continuous sensorimotor calibration. Physical movement through complex terrain stimulates cerebellar networks that directly enhance cognitive clarity.

“strong claims about a person’s emotion regulation capacity based on any specific brain region should be made with considerable caution.”

🧠 No single test of emotional control

Pooling 40 brain scan datasets from 2,175 people, a team in Germany found three ways of measuring how well we reframe our feelings do not line up. Beware any test that claims to rate it.

Over 2000 people tested, and first read through of the paper suggests that really they just failed to ask a question.

At least they had power right? Study was extremely well powered.

But they couldn't estimate the actual question.

Power. Doesn't. Matter.

Starting my day with a peloton ride with special guest from the space station astronaut Jessica Meir was so exciting! Of course, I geeked out over all of her discussion of sensorimotor plasticity and space station resource efficiency.

University of Copenhagen scanned 28 brains while people drank sweet and sour liquids with or without matching music. Taste-matched music made gustatory and sensorimotor brain regions fire more than taste alone, a new Scientific Reports study found.

I noticed that the Pruszynski, Diedrichsen and Gribble laboratories collaborate as part of the Sensorimotor Superlab. Sir in which lab should I apply or apply separately for each lab.

Redundancy means you have to figure out which movements matter for the task. We hypothesized this likely changes what & how we learn. We added redundancy to classic sensorimotor adaptation in a way that helped us isolate changes in which actions are task-relevant from other elements being learned.
