Handwriting isn’t just “slower typing.”
EEG studies show writing by hand recruits broader sensorimotor, visual, memory, and attentional networks than typing the same words.
The brain learns through movement too, not only through information. 🧠✍️

i do think that one intuition pump is "how does a coding agent's relation to code after RLVR differ conceptually from a sensorimotor representation."

A beautiful video of growing nerves tipped by the spectacular, exploratory, sensorimotor structure that is the "growth cone"! 😍
This time-lapse captures 17 hours of axonal growth from a chicken dorsal root ganglion explant, visualized through the actin cytoskeleton using live confocal imaging.
I just submitted this video to the Nikon Small World in Motion competition. Today is the last day to upload yours! 😉

I don't see why there should be a special dispensation for sensorimotor experiences. An environment is an environment. Actions are actions. Senses are senses, however different from our own.
Will's point is that they have no ability to take new information except through us or rudimentary sensors we hook up to them. They don't have the ability to instantiate sensorimotor representations, which on the way of thinking Will is talking about, are prior to our linguistic representations

Don’t mind us, we’re just muscle cells contracting in response to some neurons.

🧠What do random neural networks have in common with the motor cortex?

Turns out, a lot!

Both exhibit similar low‑dimensional dynamics across sensorimotor tasks.👇🧵
