I have a really hard time keeping a sense of direction in open-world sidescrollers. My brain doesn't like it.

To be fair, it's still better than "hop and bop" but it's still a really poor term for 2D sidescrollers where you're running and jumping but not shooting or slicing.

Without an SNES I had very little exposure to the old DKC. So this "modern" (2010) reinvention was what I needed to see what the hype was about. It's one of the best sidescrollers ever. Keeps the feel of the old titles with enough new to be its own thing.
