#slatepitches
Ah, the magazine known for vintage Slatepitches with leftist trappings is doing a "You see, back on the prehistoric savanna" bit?

Back in the good old days, that would have been #slatepitches.

I harken back to the halcyon days of #SlatePitches

In another era, strike the first two words from the hed and tag it #slatepitches

lol this is the lady who wrote the thing in the Atlantic about how it’s gentrification and ~racial~ to hate when people are noisy. Slatepitches never went away, they just wandered off to different publications

#slatepitches ???
We’ll never know, bc if this is an important issue it wouldn’t be #PayWalled.

@slate.com , once again proving Slatepitches are a real, actual thing.

A salute to you for actually reading the piece, rather than doing the Bluesky thing of reacting solely to a screenshot of the headline.

I gave it a shot, but about halfway through, it just sounded to much like one of those old #slatepitches, so I moved on.

Back in the day, this would have been one of the classic #slatepitches.

"The new Slate is good, actually." #slatepitches
When Slate first launched, I read... probably not everything on it, but a pretty high percentage. I read it like a magazine.

I haven't really looked at it much since it went subscriber-only. Clicked over to check for something and it's depressing how much every headline sounds like clickbait slop.

This is the thing. There was a rough period there when coming up with the most counter-intuitive idea was a good way to get folks talking and clicking (ie, #slatepitches) but in a time of authoritarian breakthrough, that shit is simply unacceptable...
Yeah people do that to me sometimes. To the extent you are talking about yourself here, it's not some sort of happenstance, you take conservative positions on wedge issues, whether or not you believe them, for the express purpose of provoking people and get mad when it works.
I would define Blueskyism as the habit of looking at a Clinton / Biden / Harris voter who happens to be somewhat more moderate than the poster on certain issues and deciding that person should be loudly condemned as a fascist and shunned.

I wouldn't have linked if it were not another one for the collection. It's like that Monty Python routine, where they just kept saying, over and over, "And now, number one, the larch. The larch." It's the sheer repetition that cracks me up.

And ah, yes, #slatepitches. Good times, good times.

I get the sense that Bluesky is mentioned a quite deal more than Slate these days.

I mean, people don't even do joking #slatepitches anymore because why beat a dead horse?

There is a reason that during Twitter’s golden era, one of the most common games was to post the most contrarian idiot takes under #slatepitches
I’d say Slate misses the attention, but I’m pretty sure none of the writers involved here had any idea that used to be a thing.
Not Slate working overtime to hate on Bluesky…

back in the day we used to joke about “#SlatePitches”, and well
June 8, 2025 at 12:47 PM
Oh no #slatepitches were not a "no bad ideas" situation
April 28, 2025 at 3:29 PM
