“It’s not by job to educate you” is true for individuals who are oppressed and socially disadvantaged but if you are doing activism, I am sorry, that is what you are signing up for.

I've always been socially disadvantaged due to being born into a Dallas Cowboys family

Yes, exactly this. One of the real issues is they havent understood how the working class has changed: the greens are winning among disadvantaged voters who are *also* socially liberal.

In principle I love the idea of introducing more people to the opera, but I fail to understand why this isn’t more targeted to unemployed or socially disadvantaged persons, students, elderly on low pensions, etc? Wondering how this experiment works out.

Not sure whether to „like“ this. On the one hand it sounds like a great idea to introduce many to the opera, but then the lottery does not prioritize socially disadvantaged people, children who come from households detached from culture, etc
This has massive potential to backfire on the Met.
Never been to the opera before?
Now’s your chance. We’re giving away 70,000 free tickets to the @metopera at the iconic Lincoln Center. Go to on.nyc.gov/opera to enter the lottery. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

According to the study, around 600,000 additional asthma sufferers and 1300 premature deaths would be possible. Socially disadvantaged people and minorities often live close to industrial plants or commercial centers.

Adult mortality in India remains consistently higher among socially & economically disadvantaged groups. Among men, Muslim individuals exhibit the lowest mortality; among women, upper-caste Hindu women experience the lowest levels of adult mortality.

No. Racism is a societal concept. White people are not disadvantaged socially in our country (or perhaps any country?) because of the color of their skin. One person calling you a cracker doesn’t make “anti-white” racism real.
September 12, 2026 at 5:51 PM
But here's the thing, you don't address racism by just making the law colourblind. At that point Afrocubans were already severely socially and economically disadvantaged and there was zero attempt to level that playing field.

Early years education should lift every child up, not leave the poorest behind while the system catches up. Tell Givan to delay this change until provision is genuinely universal for every child.

4. farmer grantees have been small, midsize or socially/economically disadvantaged producers.

The state also says every $1 invested generates about $2.10 in local economic activity, meaning the money spent feeding kids can circulate back through nearby farms and food businesses.

Meanwhile, there's an economically and socially disadvantaged seaside town he's supposed to be representing in Parliament, who would benefit enormously from his undisputed powers of persuasion, if he ever gave them so much as the time of day.

I actually legitimately like narratives about entirely fictional minority groups, even if they literally just have superpowers (marvel mutants or whatever) and so are in many ways advantaged rather than disadvantaged, I think socially a lot of it makes sense and it can be very interesting.

MI5 accused of ‘flagrant racism’ as white candidates told not to bother applying for summer internship
The M15 have been accused of "flagrant racism" as white candidates are once again exempt from applying to the intelligence agency's summer internship roles. For the 2026/27 academic year, those in their final or penultimate year of university can apply to a position - but must fit the criteria of being from a "black, Asian, mixed heritage or ethnic minority background". ### Applicants must also be from a "socially or economically disadvantaged background", it reads on the official agency website. Chris Philp, Shadow Home Secretary, described the process as "flagrant racism from MI5 & GCHQ", a partner intelligence and security organisation also taking applicants. ### TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say ### He wrote on X: "White applicants for summer 2027 internships - including from disadvantaged backgrounds - can’t apply. The scheme must be scrapped. "Applications should be merit-based and colour blind. Working class white boys are among the most disadvantaged - yet are ignored." Both MI5 and the Government Communications Headquarters defended the selection process, by claiming those they were seeking would fill a void in its ranks. The guidance reads: "We're confining the applications for this internship to those within this demographic due to a current underrepresentation in our workforce." ### ### ### Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said: "Yet again, taxpayer funds are being used to fuel a culture of anti-white prejudice across the public sector. "It's racism. It's wrong. Only Reform will bring meritocracy back to our institutions. We’ll ensure that nobody is discriminated against based on the colour of their skin." His remarks follow earlier allegations of two-tier policy in Britain, surrounding the case of 18-year-old Henry Nowak who was stabbed to death by Vickrum Digwa in December last year. Mr Farage and his party colleagues pointed to police guidance, urging officers to treat people differently based on the colour of their skin, after police watched Henry die to lend credence to Digwa's false claims that the victim had been racist. ### LATEST DEVELOPMENTS * Youth unemployment crisis: Nearly 1 million young Britons STILL not in work or education * Hundreds of illegal migrants brave stormy seas as mega-dinghy among boats making Channel crossing * Asylum seekers dispersed across Britain surge beyond 73,000 as new immigration data released ### Commentators and critics argue these cases, when stacked up, represent a prejudice against white Britons in Britain, regardless of how well intentioned diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) measures are. The summer intelligence internship has been running at MI5, MI6, and GCHQ since 2023, and helps to “increase diversity within our organisations”. The UK's spy agencies have come under fire before for what was dubbed a "racist" internship offered only to young people from BAME backgrounds, as well as holding the same criteria for the role of senior admin officer. Allegations have followed DEI led applications within the agencies since the scheme launched, with near annual backlash since 2023 as each new wave of summer schemes launch. ### ### ### ### According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), employers are allowed to take “positive action” by encouraging certain groups to apply for jobs to “address disadvantage or underrepresentation”. They add positive action is lawful if the action taken is “proportionate” to address the issue. “If an employer wants to take positive action in this way, the advert should clearly state the employer is seeking applications from everyone but wishes to encourage applications from people with a particular protected characteristic on the basis that they are underrepresented or face disadvantage,” the EHRC says.
