#speculative-energy
Things look grim in the markets right now, but at least the U.S. economy wasn’t already being propped up by a massive speculative AI bubble that is highly sensitive to rising energy costs.

Incredibly instructive reporting on what appears well on its way to becoming the biggest, most concentrated, most energy- and resource-intensive, and most speculative wave of capital investment ever.

US seems to be putting all this energy into an obvious speculative AI bubble.

HUGE news: @ncgovernor.bsky.social has just vetoed SB 266, the Duke Energy Scam bill that would hike North Carolinians' power bills to pay for the corporation's speculative construction projects.

Thank you, Governor Stein!

"Bitcoin is down...the crash sapped energy and attention from the crypto scene. Prediction markets, by contrast, are pulling in the same speculative crowd, offering a sharper hit: binary odds, real-world stakes, fast resolution."

Tying this to a brand new and completely speculative project just because it's what's trendy in tech right now is fundamentally unserious. Getting America good at making buildings, transit, and energy again are just incomparably more important priorities than being the best in the world at AI.

As a #writer, I’m drawn to the liminal — strange, luminous edges. My #creative work often explores the so-called “fringe”: #UFOs, Energy Fields, #Akashic Energy..etc. You’ll find me writing #esoteric literature & speculative theology. If you’re curious..check out my Quantum Soul Series.

It’s the day after, and the sound of erupting cheers for Elis Montgomery winning Best Poem still fills me with joy.

May this be the energy next year. May this be the energy after 2029. May speculative poetry remain a beacon star in the constellation of our genre, forever and always.

Cryptocurrency’s major real world use cases are speculative investing, evading currency controls, and enabling $5.6 billion in cryptocurrency scams. It is ridiculous that it hasn’t been banned on those issues alone, much less the tremendous energy costs.

I am more of a movie buff than a poetry person, but I'd rather put the energy of the WSFS to uplifting speculative poetry and speculative poets who are *actually* part of our community.

while the headline indices have barely moved off the highs, the carnage in the low quality hype stuff like quantum computing, nuclear energy etc is quite something just month to date:

But they picked MN because racist online weirdos are obsessed with Somalis there so that's where the movement energy was. *If* this is all right (very speculative!) then it's a nice practical demonstration of how the Trump regime can't simultaneously embody the Chud id and consolidate their control.

An ultra-high-energy neutrino spotted by a detector in the Mediterranean Sea could be the result of an exploding black hole.

This is a highly speculative interpretation--but exactly the kind of far-out exploration made possible by new neutrino experiments. 🧪🔭

6/ Quite serious doubts remain over whether Ukraine will be allowed to target Russian oil refineries or energy infrastructure, as the U.S. has opposed similar operations before. While this remains speculative, there is a good chance that critical infrastructure might be excluded

Its hilarious and indicting that China has basically turned to solving the energy problem by making better and better solar and the U.S. has solved it economy problem by pumping up a speculative market around sloppy and wasteful data centers which the populous pays for in higher energy bills.

A speculative take on the DeepSeek fiasco: Chinese firms, under resource constraints, will be more likely to build architectures and algorithms closer to what the brain implements (i.e., highly energy and data efficient learning/computation).

The one, very small, genuinely speculative part of my portfolio is a clean energy fund, which I'm in because ethically I think it makes sense to be, and because in the long term I think it will pay off. It'll be a long time, though.
I have much trust in my financial advisers but I did demand they dump Tesla. For so many reasons

Fuck all this speculative bullshit that's reaming consumers

(Right alongside the wildly out of control rising energy costs these data centers are giving communities)
Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.
