Shoes and spindleberries bright jewels in the hedgerow

A solitary windswept harebell on Selsley common, a rain drenched red campion still in flower by the Sapperton Canal. Also Field Scabious and Spindleberries - not open so the wonderful colour-clash of orange seeds against the pink of the fruit casing is yet to appear.

There was a moment when I thought there were no more spindleberry bushes. This year I see there is an abundance.🌱

We asked around the staff team - what cheers you up on gloomy autumn and winter days? Spindle-bums anyone? 😄

years ago I made a series of little watercolours - one for each month - from the garden of where I was living then

Spindleberries are looking withered in the woodland burial ground.

I dry spindleberries and make them into prayer beads :)

I rescued and developed a hedgerow at bottom of my garden - so satisfying - now dense green foliage, spindleberries and blackthorn doing particularly well. Both pics are After. Before was broken wire fence/overgrown ivy on beaten up hawthorns. Feb&May.
