Can’t say why exactly, but the phrase “once again refused a pierogi” made me laugh out loud.

Source after source told 60 Minutes they fear today’s insider trading scandal about military secrets is tomorrow’s national security scandal. If market-watchers can spot irregular trades, surely enemies can, too. And they’ll make their war plans accordingly. cbsn.ws/4uSxuCf

I'm no longer with Polygon. If you're hiring, please consider the many talented writers and editors now on the market. Every one of them deserves a spot on your staff. I won't be talking more about the sale because I wasn't involved.

Going to hang out with my kid. Taking wins where I can.

Hoping the real estate market wakes up a bit in the new year. I've been stalking the websites and apps for months now, looking for a spot for my future bookshop.

Remember when you used to go to the market and a parking spot was the only concern?

This is now the daily scene across America, city after city, one shopping center after another.

Coming soon to yours.

You are free to attempt a spot market approach to survival in a small band setting but I don't think it is going to go well.

Like Texas kind of is onto something that gas plants are both socially necessary in the short run but also unbuildable by private entities in their specific market because it’s the closest to a true spot energy market.

For context:

- The average long-haul spot market rate is currently $2.50. This is what someone like me would pay to ship a truck full of goods.

- The average long-haul trucker pay rate is $0.50 / mile. This is what the trucking company should pay the driver.

- This offer is 60% below market.
I keep hearing about how there’s a shortage of truckers but I think I finally got some insight into why on Reddit. Looks like they Uber’d the industry into offering people just $600 to haul from Florida to fucking Seattle.
