This is an interesting question and there are a few that really stand out:

Ralph's Party by Lisa Jewell
Leave it to Psmith by PG Wodehouse.
Stonemouth by Iain Banks
Lust by Geoff Ryman
Adam by Anthony McDonald
Exchange by Paul Magrs
They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
We talk a lot about books that were formative in our childhoods and young adulthoods, but we never actually stop forming ourselves, so what are some books that were formative in your post-college adulthood?

Started 'Stonemouth' four days ago and just finished it this afternoon whilst sitting in the sun out back, despite the freezing winds.

This book reminded me again of what we lost with Iain Banks' passing. Whether writing sci-fi or "mainstream" he was always worth reading.

Reminds me when Iain Bank's 'Stonemouth' was partially shot in Macduff, but instead of using Banff bridge they cooked up something like the Golden Gate.
There’s lots we want to do for series 2 but above all else we plan to occasionally get the geography of London slightly wrong to really annoy men in their mid 40s on the internet. That is our North Star. That is what drives us.

Currently rereading an Iain Banks novel, Stonemouth.

What an absolute pleasure his books are. I remember the excitement as each was published and I could devour it.

Will reread some more spread through this year, as delicious treats.

#23 Stonemouth by Iain Banks. The penultimate Iain Banks novel. I just have The Quarry and his non-fiction book on whisky to read before starting on the Iain M Banks books.

Yeah, that needed a bit more room to breathe. Wasn't bad. I really enjoyed Stonemouth too.

I think he would, though he’d probably be philosophical about it. There was a two part adaptation of Stonemouth, too.

Appalled I'd never even heard about the miniseries for Iain Banks's Stonemouth. Will have to watch it, as I loved the book.

Oh you know I think they made “Stonemouth” too, the edition I have has a photograph of what looks like actors in costume on the cover.

I’m reminded of David Tennant reading Iain Banks’ “Stonemouth” on Book at Bedtime, specifically describing one of the characters following the urge to “drap wan” in a golf hole in this manner.

Writers, what does the difference between your first draft and final draft look like?

A lot of this first page was adapted and changed, but still used later in the first chapter, but the final draft is definitely a lot stronger.

If you didn't get the gist of Macduff when we stayed up there recently, most exterior shots in here were shot there: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p02rqr21/preview-stonemouth-trail

Where is the bridge in the opening scenes of #Stonemouth? I don't recognise it. Is it the Forth Road Bridge blinged up by CGI? @BBCTwo

A former whisky salesman seeking relevance in a world that's moved on.

I wonder if he aspired to be a character in an Iain Banks' novel, Stonemouth perhaps.
