A lot of people are understandably nervous about the performance of AfD in Germany's elections, but I'm heartened by what I've seen so far, especially by how well the Greens and Linke are doing in some areas. There's no simple swing to the right - more a decline in support for centrism.

They really have just been convinced what we are “asking for“ is too much and unreasonable. That Some Level of transphobia is only natural and we are ungrateful for accepting that. They are actually kinda pissed they let us have rights for a while and believe we deserve them so memory hole it

Basically people getting mad at trans people when we say we won’t vote for any politician opposing trans rights no matter the “worse“ alternative are revealing they actually never took trans rights seriously or see them as worthy of any defending. Just extra “being nice“ rights for decadent times
They get so pissy about us not accepting trans sports bans and the like cause they really have bought in to the idea trans rights are new and went too far and we are asking “too much“, despite actually losing rights right now. They see trans rights as a luxury

I am deadly serious about this btw. Decades of compromise-as-political-savvy have legitimately brainwashed career politicians into believing, as a central plank of their moral calculus, that you *must* achieve consensus with opponents in order for anything to "count".

This is absolutely true. Centrist politicians have essentially fetishised "tough choices" into being an end in itself. If you don't have to throw someone under the bus to achieve some broader strategic goal (even if you're not certain what that goal is), it's not grown-up politics.
