Here is the live data feed from the streamgage that should have saved the girls at Mystic Ranch and many of the others who are dead or missing. It will scroll off the chart in a couple of days and still nobody in the press is mentioning it.

Finally!!! Someone in the press picked this up. This streamgage far up the Guadaupe River warned of the flash flood amost 1.5 hours before it hit those little girls at the Mystic camp.

This USGS streamgage alerted the rising waters start peaking over an hour before the flood surge hit the Mystic Ranch girls. Anyone familiar with Kerr flash flood patterns seeing this data would have called in emergency services. They were DOGE'd.

People are totally missing the importance of USGS, I talked about it in this article a couple of weeks ago. The streamgage network has been going steadily downhill due to funding and it's only going to get worse. We're breaking all of the safety nets.

Beautiful day for some field work in Kanton Luzern scoping out some SlowWater streamgage locations. Even a dusting of snow on some of the shady sides of the hills. Have to get used to field work in the cold again!

This graph shows that the USGS flood warning streamgage near Hunt clearly alerted starting at 2:30-2:45 am, up to 1.5 hours before the flood hit Camp Mystic. They should have been able to scramble emergency rescue services in time. Investigate this.

I confirmed the new bridge is shifted to the east of the old one, leaving the tower on the other side, using historical air photos from Iowa DNR. The tower is location of the stilling well for measuring gage height (water height relative to a local datum), as shown here: www.usgs.gov/water-scienc...
