... a plan for the first subfleet...

Ferry beer typos in full effect.

DL: I wonder WTF this 321Neo subfleet config that has 44 (!) first class seats is? New charter config or something? (just a terrible guess.)
Possibly coming next year.

Looks like 10-car trains to Orlando every hour, and a new subfleet of shorter trains that run just in South Florida during peak hours.

With Germany’s TKMS #subfleet big came the aerospace infrastructure for Cape Breton, NS with Isar Aerospace

Combining Isar Aerospace’s launch vehicle, #Spectrum, with #Spaceport, Nova Scotia’s licensed infrastructure, 🇨🇦 and 🇩🇪 created conditions for reliable #orbitallaunch services from 🇨🇦
Canada’s submarine decision just paid off for Nova Scotia’s spaceport - The Logic
A German rocket maker signed a 10-year deal with Maritime Launch Services the day after Canada picked TKMS to build its subs

at this time definitely leaning -away- from thinking this is a charter config, I'm thinking it s commercial subfleet of some type

Also, I think the T reasonably had 2 options for the trolleybus network out of Harvard Square: massively expand or abandon. It doesn't matter how good the tech is, a small subfleet is expensive. Trolleybus advantages come with scale. And massive expansion would have been "governor baby" territory.

Would you suggest that a subfleet is ... something special in the air?

Yes, and making everything dual mode instead of just buying a small subfleet for Virginia means all those regional trains are going to be *heavy*

The new United 789 layout will be the most premium configuration from a US carrier, and one of the most premium-heavy globally. And it is not a small subfleet. United expects 30 planes with this config by 2027 and 140ish overall.

The company is betting BIG on continued premium demand.

🔴 Turkish Airlines expects to receive 40 aircraft in 2027. The airline will operate a dedicated subfleet of A350-1000ULRs for the Australian market. Premium economy is expected by summer 2028. #Airways #Exclusive

🔴 LATAM Airlines Group will equip all ten Boeing 777-300ERs with AeroSHARK, becoming the first non-Lufthansa operator of a fully modified subfleet. The technology could save 4,000 tonnes of fuel and cut 12,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually by 2027. #Airways #News

I was thinking more about the high cycle/low hour ops and corrosive salt air, and how rotating planes through would increase the useful life of the planes. On a per flight hour basis, the maintenance of the 717 subfleet is the most costly around.

Yea, I'm kind of surprised Delta hasn't experimented with bringing back a proper international First cabin considering its position at JFK, but this might be the only market that could make it work that would mean a subfleet (and airlines hate subfleets).

I've not seen anything specific about initial routes. I'm pretty sure all the 77Ws are getting the retrofit, but it'll be a subfleet on the 789s.

except the coach-only A380 is a paper airplane; nobody ever configured it that way for actual service.

The highest capacity was one subfleet for Emirates with a max of 615 passengers, and that’s only a fraction of their overall fleet.

They already have them on a subfleet of buses! Seattle and KC have just failed to implement a legal enforcement mechanism for 3yrs 🙃

Yes, that subfleet was very singular, because very complex.

And SNCF GL, in those years, was weary of subfleets...

1. ANA Flying Honu.

ANA has three turtle-painted A380s, and all three fly between Tokyo Narita and Honolulu.

The 520-seat layout has four cabins. Couchii rows turn three or four economy seats into a padded platform. ANA built an entire superjumbo subfleet just for Hawaii.
