Ashley Omps was kicked off Medicaid and could no longer afford suboxone to treat her addiction. She died of a heart attack that her family says was the result of her withdrawal.
That’s fairly common unfortunately. I helped facilitate getting someone suboxone a couple of months ago.

Retired substance abuse counselor here. I have always doubted Kennedy’s alleged recovery. Majority of opioid addicts relapse across the lifespan unless treated with methadone, suboxone, or naltrexone. Cabinet nominees should submit to drug testing.

I was on suboxone to treat my addiction and it probably saved my life. MAT is effective and a godsend for people that are ready to get clean but still have to work and go about their lives

This admin has sent mixed signals about Suboxone accessibility. Last I heard, they delayed implementation of the rule that would allow more doctors to prescribe it? (I'm a 12-stepper and Suboxone is somewhat controversial in my community but I'd prefer people not die).

Son of our friends, age 30, was on Suboxone for a year. He had a job, a fiancé, newborn baby but he was struggling to pay for the Suboxone. One night while his fiancé was at the grocery he bathed the baby, put her to sleep and shot up in the bathroom. It was cheaper. He died on the bathroom floor.

They used to make the addicts line up at 830am for their suboxone (recovery meds that kill the wds but don't get you high) in South Philly so people going to work would see who the users were in their neighborhood even though those people were specifically trying to get clean. So people didn't go.
We treat people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol like their shit. And we judge them while we do it. That’s the issue with the US not that the left has somehow gained enough hegemony to make it okay for far right figures to abuse substances. They’ve always done that.

The HHS cuts announced this morning is going to hit suboxone and mental health care. Crime will spike in the area, and I wonder, but am doubtful, if people will put two and two together.
