Folks should know that Daniel Supernault, the owner of Pixelfed, spent the holidays crashing out at a teenager who was working on Pixelfed for free

He also kept using AAVE and doubling down on it when called out by pointing to his non-Black indigenous identity as cover

He sucks.

Dont worry about starter packs and that one alternative The fediverse will support proper starter packs, that dont rely on a centralized provider. Remember, were not VC backed and will be the new home to many of them when they realize how "decentralized" it is

So Pixelfed will have starter packs and no ads, while Instagram has ads and support for Fascism.

I say it's time to dump Meta!

who would've thought the majority of performance issues could be fixed with simple database indexes 😅 i never regret choosing mysql for pixelfed.social, I've seen too many horror stories with postgres, like the recent mastodon.cloud migration. why do people still use postgres??
