No. 13 South Dakota beats Indiana State, 44-14.

And next Saturday [weather permitting, of course] I'm going to see the Sycamores in person, playing host to *another* ranked opponent in Youngstown State.

Could be a long day.

More TREES but let's plant native trees! More sycamores more oaks!!!
LA is HOT. But does it have to be this hot?

Did you know shade from a single tree can drop temps by 20° or more? Yet working-class neighborhoods like South LA, East LA, and the Valley get the least tree coverage and bear the brunt of extreme heat. Let's finally cool things down for everyone.

Irvine Regional Park FUN FACT: ✨The land began as part of the vast Irvine Ranch, and the park's old sycamores still hint at its 19th-century picnic-ground origins.

Yes, my largely paved and rather neglected garden would be dominated by sycamores (or one sycamore) if I didn't get rid of the seedlings every year.
October 1, 2026 at 9:07 AM
Oh, hmm, yeah. I feel like sycamores are more beige (greige?) when they peel? But I'm definitely not a sycamore expert!
October 1, 2026 at 12:15 AM
Sycamores also peel but color looks wrong.
My kid would like me to ask you what kind of tree that is?

I love how the leaves of tulip poplar trees look like cats. You'll also see sycamores, hickories, dogwoods, maples, and elms.

It's the time of year when Yellow-browed Warblers find their way to lonely coastal sycamores. This was one of two along the north side of Girdle Ness today.

I'm torn because on the one hand I absolutely see the value in being able to say "this tree/woodland benefits everyone not just the owner, and should be protected".

And on the other hand: these are fricking sycamores. They're not even native*.

*Slightly tree racist, I appreciate.

Pretty sure that after WW3 ends it'll just be sycamores and cockroaches coexisting in perfect harmony, tbh.

Bloody sycamores grow like weeds. Not surprised it’s fighting back. Well done tree.
September 28, 2026 at 8:44 AM
The symbolism of the tree was so important for the region and it was terrible what happened. But sycamores are resilient and fast growing, plus what the NT have done has given it every chance to grow again.
