It's utterly foolish to equate high input pastured beef and dairy—undermining food security—with efficient *food* producton.
Have to wonder if knowledgeable farmers believe such nonsense. And where are the agri academics & Teagasc researchers to rebut the misinformaton.
Their silence is deafening.

Still cutting the grass? Met Éireann and Teagasc data shows soil temperatures up to 1.5c above normal here in Carlow at 13.6c and soil moisture deficit levels are low so good grass growth still. Plenty of silage cut this week, you won’t be putting away the mower for a while yet.

Teagasc does not seek to cause confusion and has clearly stated that methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) and needs to be reduced. Further, Teagasc scientists understand the complexity, implications and limitations of different metrics used and debated by the climate science community to account for the warming effect of the different GHGs carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. Strong research Teagasc has a very strong research and knowledge transfer programme around reducing agricultural GHG emissions. Many farmers will be familiar with the Teagasc-led Signpost Programme, and the Teagasc Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (MACC) published in 2023 has outlined a pathway to achieve the sectoral 2030 targets. This has underpinned Government policy on climate change in relation to reducing emissions from the agriculture and land-use sector. Teagasc completely rejects the assertion that it is a climate denying organisation.'

Oh look, no grass growth in Ireland due to the prolonged dry spell is costing many dairy farmers around €500 per day, as they have to eat into their winter fodder supplies to feed their herds, according to Teagasc Crop Specialist Shay Phelan.

My letter related to an article in the IFJ, not Teagasc. Instead of addressing my point about GWP*, Dr Richards refers to irrelevancies (in this context) and then uses a (dishonest) strawman argument falsely saying that I asserted that Teagasc is a “climate denying organisation”. @teagasc
