Lots of tech dudes think the "idea" is the important part of creating, not the creative journey you take through work to give that idea actual meaning. Ideas are the easiest, cheapest and least fulfilling part of it. Giving ideas life through work, and sharing that work with others, is the stuff.

Hazbin Hotel Fanart Comic - Alastor’s Tech Journey: Part 3, page 1. Lucifer walks into the hotel livid looking for Alastor. Angel Dust doesn’t know where he is and would rather not after his last encounter with him. He has PTSD flashbacks of Alastor kicking his ass. Lucifer complains about his broken computer monitor, sure that it was Alastor who broke it. Hazbin Hotel Fanart Comic - Alastor’s Tech Journey: Part 3, page 2. Angel Dust feigns innocence since Lucifer doesn’t know that he was also in his room the other day and mentions what a naughty deer he is for invading his privacy. He comes somewhat but not fully clean, mentioning what he told Alastor to look up (OnlySins and RadioApple). Lucifer gets a sense of why the monitor is broken now and excuses himself to his room, asking Angel Dust to let him know if he sees Alastor. Hazbin Hotel Fanart Comic - Alastor’s Tech Journey: Part 3, page 3. Lucifer enters his room via portal, complaining that if Alastor steps foot in his room again, he’ll stick his mic-staff where the sun don’t shine. He grumbles as he snaps his monitor fixed then gets curious about what Angel Dust mentioned earlier. Hazbin Hotel Fanart Comic - Alastor’s Tech Journey: Part 3, page 4. Lucifer is seated at his computer, slowly typing in a search for “Radioapple”, curious as to what it is from what Angel Dust mentioned earlier. He is shocked by the clearly pornographic imagery and sounds he is witnessing and ends up burning his monitor to make it stop. He then sits at his desk annoyed with himself for doing the same thing Alastor has done previously, now understanding why.

Alastor’s Tech Journey Part 2, page 1. Angel Dust is lounging on one of the hotel lobby couches browsing his phone with a bored look on his face. Alastor approaches menacingly telling him that he requires his assistance regarding the interwebs. Angel gets excited that Alastor wants him to teach him thinking this will be hilarious. Alastor’s Tech Journey Part 2, page 2. 3 hours have passed and Angel is growing frustrated and exhausted teaching Alastor how to use the computer in Lucifer’s room. This didn’t go as he had planned and Alastor mentions that he is finally going to find out what “bae” means. Alastor’s Tech Journey Part 2, page 3. Angel Dust perks up at hearing what Alastor is researching and smugly tells him to go to “onlysins.com” and to search for “radioapple”. While Alastor is typing in the website address very slowly, Angel says he has to go to work and quickly dashes out of the room. Once Alastor has gone to the website, loud spicy sounds burst out of the speakers and Alastor is clearly shocked and flustered with what he’s seeing on the monitor. He swiftly impales the monitor with a shadow tentacle.

No surprise, some services are far more easy to replace than others. Email and streaming are low-hanging fruit; maps and messaging can be more difficult. But we should still make the effort.

I arrived late to the anti-technocracy party via my disappointment with the tech industry and neoliberalism. Prior to that I was a tech booster. I credit Lewis Mumford and Neil Postman for my early doubts and now see that my journey was traveled decades ago by many others.

Just started reading John Ralston Saul's "Voltaire's Bastards: The Dictatorship of Reason in the West." Woke up this morning thinking the claim that men are always rational while women are always irrational is: patriarchy, chauvinism, and misogyny.

It's a power thing, and feeds into tech world.

Freakin' cool. Bloomberg's clean tech newsletter today is spotlighting these container ship "sails": 123-foot tall high-tech "Windwing Sails"... that adjust to real time wind data (saving 6 tonnes of fuel, and 20 tonnes of CO2 per journey in good weather).
