My post this week was on Thrust! Read about:

- developer Jeremy C. Smith's history with BBC Micro twists on Asteroids
- how Thrust became "a £2 sensation" for BT's Telecomsoft
- Exile, the 1988 cult classic which was way ahead of its time

Yep Rainbird were the publisher, a spinoff of BT's Telecomsoft.

I had Starglider and a couple of other non-Magnetic Scrolls things they published on Amiga, and some of the Firebird stuff on C64 - The Sentinel and Thrust.

I'm not sure I completely finished any L9 games back then either! 😂

Rainbird was a Telecomsoft label
Thanks BT

Then the guest speaker for the day, Richard C Hewison, former employee of Telecomsoft. A very interesting man who gave an excellent talk about his time as a playtester for Firebird and Rainbird.
He really hates golf!

Generally, thanks to all at TelecomSoft (as was) - it's the end of an era, folks.
Thanks to MicroProse - let's take it from here.

Absurd #retrogaming facts? Humphrey Bogart was once the advertising face for a video game called Soldier of Fortune. Yep, let it sink in.

Sure thing. So, this book will be covering the history of Rainbird and Beyond software specifically, whereas the Firebird one only covered that part of the company and its history. Overall, its new content - there might only be some slight overlap if they talk about TelecomSoft, but very little.

IndeflataBall is yet another #Commodore64 TelecomSoft title that never was. Intended for release on Silverbird's budget label, this promising maze shoot-em-up title was fully recovered by #GTW, thanks to developer Cory Kin's kind disk donations.

In Chapter 9 of my serialized memoir, it's 1986, Heartland for the ZX Spectrum ships, and the reality of shipping 10 games in a year for Firebird/Telecomsoft means our brand new Amiga 1000s have to be set aside in favor of cranking out points for the contract.
