Today was my elderly neighbor’s birthday, and I was invited to come with her and the Tenrikyo priest + one more person to have a lovely lunch together
Although I am a Konkokyo Shinto shrine maiden, I don’t know much about Tenrikyo yet. They have been very warm and welcoming

The Tenrikyo priest who lives across the street from me gave me a cake to cheer me on today because he knows I’m going back to my very toxic job to meet the VP 😭

I keep getting adopted by priests and sages. This is a strange but welcome reoccurring theme in my life. I am both bewildered and blessed (literally?)

Got some Tenrikyo theology books. Tenrikyo was the first Japanese new religion I visited and I just visited again. They are monotheistic, panentheistic, with a complex choreographed Liturgy. There are also some fascinating parallels between the emergences of Ancient Judaism and Tenrikyo.

Got some Tenrikyo theology books. Tenrikyo was the first Japanese new religion I visited and I just visited again. They are monotheistic, panentheistic, with a complex choreographed Liturgy. There are also some fascinating parallels between the emergences of Ancient Judaism and Tenrikyo.
A thread on my visit to the Tenrikyo church is still to come, but one funny clarification I had to give while I was there was when my wife texted me:
“Remind me, are you visiting Tenrikyo or [Aum] *Shinrikyo* today???”

せっかくここまで来たので本部建物を見てみたかったのですが、乗り換え時間があんまりなかったので断念。
話には聞いたことがありますが、「ようこそおかえり」の実物を見れただけでも良しとしましょうか。
教祖１４０年祭という表示もありました。江戸末期くらいの宗教なのですねぇ。
