Happy Birthday! Fav FW organism... should be a mayfly, since that's "my" group, but in fact, the organism that gets me most excited to see in samples is a blepharicarid larva (Diptera Blephariceridae).

Glass Shrimp (Cuapetes tenuipes) are all over the reef but are hard to photograph due to their transparency and long arms that tend to capture focus. Pretty happy with this brave one that sat with with me for a good long while!

Pardosa tenuipes (proxima in Roberts.) Nationally scarce it seems, again not recorded from Syderstone it seems.

Love Blepharoceridae! Here are some Blepharicera tenuipes from Newfoundland, in eastern Canada.

. . . it’s a native substitute for hostas. The whole plant is a little bristly (like radishes) but not too much to toss the juicy leaves in a salad. The lush, broad leaves rise from rhizomes to 6-12” off the ground, with loose clusters of smallish white (sometimes purple) flowers.

New from Nobody Nursery: Hydrophyllum tenuipes (Pacific waterleaf) and Polypodium glycerrhiza (licorice fern)

This shade-loving deciduous ground cover is common in the seasonally wet forests west of the Cascades, and is tolerant of sunny conditions as long as there’s abundant moisture . . .

Yes I made sure to photograph a zombie there. Under a giant devils fig, was a lepidoptera chrysalis, that appeared to be fruiting maybe something from Cordyceps tenuipes complex

What's up? It's #MushroomMonday is what's up, so here (for those not bored by my photos yet) is the latest offering from #FungiFriday last week. A wonderful tree-fern path by a creek in #Tasmania; maybe less riot of color than the previous week, but some wonderful species still! #FungiFriends #fungi

...from Hydrophyllum tenuipes. In the completed mine, the puparium is hidden on the underside of the leaf, many cm away from the apparent end of the mine, and often on a different leaflet. #flyweek

Quite a treat to encounter some cute little Diptera in vials inadvertently included amongst my Newfoundland and Labrador mayfly vials: these are Nymphomyiids and blepharicerids.

It's a simple life.

Yes I went and put it on moss to make it look pretty lol. But what a pretty #zombie fungi #Cordyceps #tenuipes can be :) #Fungifriends See my reply below to see as it was found.

When my lady gets on the tools, she rips and tears, then rebuilds it better. Shit gets done. Today I weeded a herb garden & she redid some wood. An she totally found the nicest #Cordyceps #tenuipes I have seen in ages. Oh and you should prepare to get authentically hammered. RIP headphone users :)

So if all " #Cordyceps #tenuipes " look the same, why bother looking at them? Well heres one #zombiehunter Jade pointed out to me today as a bit different. Reminds me of the #Ceratocystis epigloeum #fungi I see on #Tremella fuciformis fungi, which itself eats #Annulohypoxylon & #Hypoxylon fungi.

" #Cordyceps #tenuipes " is a large complex of species. Many look quite similar like these I photographed today

I see you Cordyceps tenuipes! You cannot hide from me among the green moss! #mushrooms #fungifriends

Another native plant spotted in Seattle park restoration areas: the Pacific waterleaf (Hydrophyllum tenuipes) has cool cucumber-ish colors and likes the edges of woodsy spots.

Pacific Waterleaf flower (Hydrophyllum tenuipes).
To me it looks like fireworks or maybe something alien.
Have a wonderful day.

Of course hiding from fungal predators is more difficult, as this dry cordyceps tenuipes example shows.
