Yeah cuz they fuckin’ outspent us with their billions of dollars they owe us
California’s proposed billionaire tax was polling at 52% approval back in May.

Tech oligarchs have spent at least $148 million to fight it. Now it polls at 42%.
California Billionaire Pass Not Expected to Pass
On the eve of the 2026 midterms, polling showed that support for a ballot measure taxing the ultra-wealthy had shed significant support.

As Carl Sagan said, “They laughed at the Wright Brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.”
We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

El-Sayed: "They keep pointing to my name and my faith because they think they can distract you. When MAGA tries to distract you, it is because they are trying to pick your pocket. My name and my faith are not the reason you can't afford gas. They aren't the reason you can't afford groceries."

All these assholes, they cannot CONCEIVE of a world where their actions have consequences, because they consider themselves superior beings whose actions MUST deliver positive outcomes because they are the actions of a naturally superior actor.

They cannot compute that yeah actually, they can fail

I voted last week and it was beautiful. They gave me a sticker and a big fat kiss on the mouth and $100 and they said it was the best kiss they ever had but the money was separate. I said thank you, thank you for saving our democracy. And they said you’re welcome. This is a common experience.

They know. Believe me, they know.

They do not care.

They do not care about how their disproportionate whiteness diminishes their credibility.

Quantitatively, they care even less now than they did when the Kerner Commission report reached the same conclusions.
National media is an elite White space that misses a lot of major stories that pertain to minority politics. Two stories that are massively under reported at the moment 1.) ICE will be Texas' Prop 187. The sleeping Latino Giant electorate has awakened 2.) Gutting the VRA upended Southern politics.
There are now at least 15 counties in TX where the total early/mail vote has exceeded the total turnout from 2022, including election day votes. These counties are clustered in south Texas/RGV, Dallas, Houston, and Austin metros.

When I hear someone say they don’t plan to vote, it seriously makes me question what kind of person they are.

Black folks were forced to pay poll taxes, pass literacy tests, livelihoods and lives just to exercise their right to vote. Eat or vote because you can’t do both. And they still showed up.

2. They put huge weight on stories they feel that they have broken/are breaking, and extremely devalue stories they didn't report first. I was told "if we didn't break the story, I don't want it on the front page."

It’s a common misconception that authoritarians don’t want elections. They do. They just don’t want FAIR elections.

But they couldn't publish the Trump rape allegation published by Congress because they didn't have independent corroboration. 🤔
Nasty work by the Times here. Law enforcement sources say they found "some evidence" that Ilhan Omar married her brother, but the paper doesn't say who they are or what the evidence is.

fox news has an ideological, technological, and actuarial problem: they can't go as far right as podcasters and posters, they can't reach younger viewers who don't have cable or expensive live-tv streaming packages, and they have an audience that is dying off.
Fox News seems adrift these days, unable to get their usual culture war nonsense to stick this midterm election.

There's short term reasons for this. (Inflation, etc.)

But I think they're facing a longer term problem as MAGA gets more extreme.

i think they have all wildly overestimated the “generational” opportunity, but it’s absolutely true that they destroyed whatever inroads they made, and some of that might be permanent
A Trump staffer said: “We took over and we just kind of fucking botched it. The Democrats didn’t create some bullshit. We had a generational opportunity and we basically squandered it. Look at the coalition we had in 2024. Those people might not ever vote again in their lives.”

Sorry, the "media literacy crisis" is Fake. The problem isn't that they misunderstood a movie. The problem is that they are fascists.
We have a media literacy crisis in this country

it's important to remember that things like this didn't "age poorly," they were absurd when they were written, and they collectively contributed to getting this piece of shit elected

Paxton: "These people are shooting our people because they don't agree with them. They cannot stand that there is dissent or that we disagree. They have to control us with violence. Those are the people we're fighting. They are real."

Steady stream of students in office hours this morning, all sharing stories of voting.

Two different ones from Missouri who said they never heard back from the state when they asked for absentee ballots so they voted early in person over fall break.

The kids are alright.
