I knew every one of them by name. No engineer does that today. Most engineers now work well above the transistor, well above the functionality, and they’re cobbling things together to do things. So you need to think much more about systems and interactions of systems. So some of the lower-level knowledge is gone.

Also a former video store clerk here. The 40 copies we had of Tiranic were a massive expense but there was a whole waiting list.

But wasn’t just new releases. Same process for the porno tapes. Rotating out the old ones meant selling them. I was 17 and it was so awkward.

Hi former video store clerk here. The advantage cost of a VHS tape was $100.00.
They would rent new release copies until they made back their money. Then we're sold used at 10-20 depending on how many copies they had and how popular the movie was.
Then DVDs came out, and so VHS dropped in prices.
