Even the book I've been rereading fondly, the King in Yellow, is in fact a diatribe about culture wars and what to do about it.
It's just that the author of TKiY is better at it, and a bit more thoughtful, than most folks to put pen to paper.

the point of TKiY is that YOU are the one who chooses to open the cover and everything that follows is a consequence of making that choice. different kinda horror than Cosmic Deific Indifference/Absolute Power. its a cognitohazard that you have to choose to engage with, for whatever reason

like. i'm a fray myste guy. it's been known i'm into the "insanely loyal self-sacrificial helmeted knight" aesthetic for god knows how long..... and I can make so many parallels between d3rlord/avery/tkiy & fray/sydney/azem that it would be way too long to type out
