If you thought the **£419 Dyson CameraJet toothbrush launched earlier this month** was expensive, think again. Philips has just announced its new Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige toothbrush, and what it lacks in a catchy name, it more than makes up for with a long list of features and an eye-watering price tag. At £599.99, this is an expensive piece of dental kit. It's available in Quartz Black, Silver White, or Storm Blue. The rechargeable toothbrush comes equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) built into the handle that monitors your brushing technique 100 times _every second_. ### Dubbed SenseIQ Adaptive Intensity, if you start scrubbing at your molars like a scouring burnt food from a frying pan, the brush takes over and automatically dials back the intensity to protect your gums. And it's not the only way this tech-laden toothbrush is designed to improve your brushing technique. ### During brushing, a ring of lights at the end of the brush provides instant feedback on the amount of pressure being applied to your teeth. It'll glow green when you're using the right amount of pressure, pulse purple with a gentle vibration if you're pressing too hard, or fade to purple when you're not applying enough pressure. We've seen similar functionality on other brushes from Oral-B, but where this new toothbrush takes things up a notch is flagging when you're not quite done with a section of your mouth. Once you've finished, the small display on the handle shows a 12-segment mouth map that highlights where you'll need to adjust pressure in future. It also indicates any areas that need a retouch. The new brush arrives with a redesigned head from Philips, which it claims can remove 20x more plaque and enjoy up to 15x healthier gums in just six weeks. The Dutch brand also claims you'll enjoy 100% more stain removal in less than two days compared with using a manual toothbrush, thanks to the 62,000 bristle movements per minute. ### Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige tracks how often and how hard you brush, then reminds you to replace your brush head once it's time for a new one, so you're always getting the best possible clean. Replacement brush heads cost £34.99 for a pack of two. ### Of course, it's not just the features packed into this flagship toothbrush that make it so pricey. The brand states: "The new Sonicare DiamondClean comes with a glass charger, premium finishing and an aesthetic design that elevates your brushing experience." The top-of-the-line £599 toothbrush from Philips is available now. You can also subscribe to its Try & Buy service, which costs £24.99 per month.
