Even though Sweden has not adopted the Euro there is a place where you can still use it, and also a place in Finland where you can use the Swedish kroner. Tornio-Haperanda/Haperanda-Tornio. The twin cities on the Swedish-Finnish border use both currencies.

Unpopular opinion: For Stockholm to Helsinki ‘over the top’ it’s still better to walk/taxi Haparanda to Tornio Itaïnen & catch the 22:17 sleeper to Helsinki. 17-min connection in Tornio too risky. The Finnish Railways website wants you to change at Oulu, in bed at midnight!

Unpopular opinion: For Stockholm to Helsinki ‘over the top’ it’s still better to walk/taxi Haparanda to Tornio Itaïnen & catch the 22:17 sleeper to Helsinki. 17-min connection in Tornio too risky. The Finnish Railways website wants you to change at Oulu, in bed at midnight!

Improvement of E8 road from Tornio to Kilpisjärvi.
