Coinbase just had a huge hack of transaction history, account balances, and KYC data because they didn’t tier who could see personal data, and their cheap outsourced labor was easy to bribe btw.
Think of it this way. We grew up and we opened bank accounts and wrote checks. No more.

You direct deposit into Robin Hood or Coinbase and a few other apps. Crypto is in your face all day and you check your emoters every time you get a notification about a price move and the news behind it

I may be missing it, but in data security discussions I'm not seeing any demands for companies to delete our personal data *after* we've completed our transaction - flight, car rental, app purchase - or cancelled our subscription.
Personal data should purged or there should be consequences.

In a similar vein, I’m freaked out at how little outrage the Moneris sale is generating. Canadians get all nationalist about a map name change (right so) but not about all our financial transaction data being sold off to American tech firms?
Ontarians are more mad about “Lake America” nonsense…which isn’t a thing here, our maps haven’t changed yet, and will go back when he’s gone…but things like this that affect us, our money, our kids, it will barely blip.
