I gave up. I gave up on edgy archaic tech and repeatedly self-sabotaging my current hobby project.
Eff it. C#, WPF, in Visual Studio Community.
Smooth as silk so far. Got my left-side window (2 tabs with a treeview each.) Next is populating them with data dynamically.

I'm not 100% content with the look of the selected tabs... but at least is functional, and there are a lot of UI components that will pick automatically the OS-defined visual themes!

Experimenting with some semi-intelligent culling of the table-of-contents sidebar on long articles. Not sure if this needs some animation or interactivity; I don't really want to turn this into a full treeview widget but it's very useful to have

Turns out when Roslyn ships a new compiler it invalidates all deterministic assemblies compiled with the previous compiler that embed the pdb, because the pdb contains the SHA of the compiler:
