TSAPre line at #JFK terminal 4 seems to be about 30-40 minutes (much less if you have clear).
So far no ICE but lots of Port Authority cops armed to the teeth...

After hours on the phone, Delta was able to rebook me, but lots of things went wrong with rebooking, based on stories of fellow rebooked folks, like special meals, TSApre, and seat upgrades. Bad service too.

I have missed paychecks due to shutdowns. I'm extremely sympathetic. But the same # of people would be working w/o pay even if TSAPre didn't exist.

I was wrong on both counts.

The TSA PreCheck program makes a *lot* of money off of trans people because of this. (TSAPre == no body scan)

I second this. We joined TSAPre begrudgingly in the Before Times, back when we were traveling monthly for conventions and family, but it absolutely paid for itself in the first year — less stress, faster, etc. In the current climate, I’d deem it essential.
If you fly to conventions and haven’t already, GET TSA PRECHECK!
The standard security line at LaGuardia wrapped all the way across terminal B. The PreCheck line was about 10 people deep.

Yes. That work has already been done, equipment purchased. AFAIK it costs no extra to process TSAPre vs regular aside from # of personnel needed for lanes. In fact it would likely cost less due to higher throughput.
Staff are still required to work w/o pay. In past shut downs it remained open.
