The most successful left-leaning business owners in my area have set a pretty firm boundary of "You're welcome to visit here, hold space, wear a mask, hold support groups. You are not welcome to tell other customers how to behave or to tell me how to run my own business."

Personally I think it's fine to point out that policies intended to harm minorities also harm the majority! People respond to messages rooted in self-interest and it also emphasizes that we're all connected.

If your impulse is to point out that policies aimed at eradicating trans people might also harm cisgender people, please ask yourself why. Second, the answer is no. They will not. Sometimes they do by accident, that gets "fixed", and trans people still suffer.

We have a big issue on the non-Republican side where people will just make things up about Democrats because "hurr durr, both parties same" get you a lot of clout with stupid people on social media. This is just wrecker behavior and people should pay a reputational cost for doing it.
My reaction to this was “huh, doesn’t sound like Duckworth.” So I watched it. She’s talking about tariffs & funding USAID & farm bankruptcies & it’s obvious that the “save face” bit was acknowledging these things will change only if Trump agrees & you get him to do that by letting him think he won/1
I had not seen this clip where Tammy Duckworth advises Democrats to "not impeach anybody," "get back to work" and "allow" Donald Trump to "save face" and I would just like to remind the senator from IL that the federal government took 4,000 Chicagoans and murdered a 38-year-old father last fall.

This makes me hopeful. This number is aspirational but nowhere near out of reach: a working professional could realistically cash out their 401k and buy off a public official. Owning a senator is more attainable for most Americans than home ownership.
