A before and after photo of a recent clean-up of an antique Indian 'tulwar' sword. This example was probably from the 1700s and was covered in thick sheet silver. It was meticulously cleaned and sealed with microcrystalline wax.

Very cool! Tulwars are among my favorite types of sword.

Popped in to the Birmingham Museum en route to the footie. Displays reflect the city’s manufacturing role providing muskets and swords (exported Tulwars to India!), and later machine guns and Spitfires. They made wings in the chocolate factory.

well yeah but so are lattes and tulwars and kilijs and whatnot, that doesn't mean they don't exist either.

This is the Tulwar or Talwar, an Indian curved sword that has been used since the 14th Century. Tulwars were used by Indian infantry and cavalry. The swords feature a Disc pommel that enforces the use of draw cuts over conventional forms of cutting.
