That's not the normal channel, and it securitises the international development budget and instruments, especially in post-conflict and fragile environments.

The UKaid budget is heading for a 20 year low. It's raided again by poor Home Office spend on asylum-seekers and refugees, a political choice not to invest in application processing.

The drum beat against climate action is led by the Torygraph, GB News, Tufton Street, Farage, Badenoch and a pile of fossil fuel dark money. Starmer and Reeves are listening to lobbyists and Reform-led headlines, not the wider public. It was the same in gutting UKaid. Miliband needs to watch out.

Cutting UKaid, from the levels it's already cut to AND filleted further to support UK-based support to asylum-seekers and refugees, is NOT the way forward. The list of countries that abstained at the UN vote on Russian aggression is telling - much of the Global South. UK soft power is already low.
The PM is doing the right thing increasing defence spending - I have been callling on the govt to do this for years.
Cutting international aid is cutting soft power and piling up problems for the future as Putin and Xi fill the gap left by Britain.

#IDA21 but urge for #GenderEquality not to be neglected.
Current proposals have dropped key gender targets. The UK has a key role to play in increasing ambition for women & girls & ensuring #UKAid.
