UMN - Twin Cities just announced they will be closing six Living Learning Communities (LLCs) — CASA SOL, Hmong house, & MLK beloved house. these communities create space & support for students (particularly marginalized freshmen) to help retain students that otherwise may have felt isolated & leave.

But honestly like the UMN genome center is doing short reads for about $1.50/GB.So say $50 for library prep and 10X coverage of a 2Gb genome.

At UMN, we were informed that our health insurance premiums are going up AND our deductibles are going up AND we are switching from copays to coinsurance AND our discount for participating in the wellbeing program is going down. All in one fell swoop.
I just got my open enrollment information and insurance premiums for my PPO are MORE than doubling this year.

Would be interesting to poll college students. My kid says she got alerts about her absentee ballot having been delivered -- I haven't seen it. I've been disappointed that UMN professors are going full bore on midterms, not factoring students who want to travel home to vote.
