Indigenous peoples have the right to protect their culture, identity, and lands from forced assimilation, displacement, and discrimination. The world must uphold UNDRIP Article 8.

The world's 370M Indigenous people make up less than 5% of the global population, yet they protect 25% of the land & safeguard 80% of biodiversity! Their traditional knowledge is essential for Nature Conservation & ClimateResilience. Upholding their rights under UNDRIP is our shared responsibility!

Includes: "lowering the [UNDRIP] standard and adopted in Canadian law, to 'the aim of securing' FPIC. As written, the legislation centres 'consultation' with Indigenous Peoples, and intention over actual consent, not meaningful participation and impact on decision-making."

There is NO NATION BUILDING PROJECTS WITHOUT FIRST NATIONS‼️

Absolutely correct! #Canadian won’t allow projects to go forward without #FirstNations. The govt we elected promised this with #BILLC5. We will hold them to it. #cdnpoli #canpoli #Liberal #WabKinew #IndigenousReconciliation #UNDRIP

Uhhhh... untrue. Look at how Canada treats the sovereign Indigenous nations. It completely ignores UNDRIP and criminalizes Land Defenders.

Four countries initially voted against UNDRIP. It's exactly the colonial ones you'd expect, including Canada.
"Canada cannot build economic recovery on the backs of Indigenous Nations without our consent, our participation, and our laws being respected."

B.C. and Canada have broken their own United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP) laws.

Fifth, Mackinnon believes that most of her invented problems will be resolved if the feds simply repeal their UNDRIP implementation legislation. That’s nonsense. The ACFN case never mentioned UNDRIP. Repealing the federal statute doesn't change the legal status of the Declaration in Alberta. 6/

Act leader Seymour wants NZ out of #UNDRIP. National-NZ First coalition agreement said NZ gov't would not let UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples have binding legal effect on NZ. If NZ withdrew it would damage to our international reputation.
