A Calgary family is urgently seeking assistance to recover their cat, Tinku, who is stranded on a utility pole in northeast Calgary. The cat, described as 'very scared,' has been perched on a ledge several meters above the ground since Friday, September 25, 2026. The family has reached out to local authorities and the community for help, emphasizing the need for immediate action to safely retrieve the animal. The situation has drawn attention from residents and media, with the family expressing concern for Tinku's well-being as the cat remains in a precarious position. Emergency services and animal control have been contacted, but the height and location of the pole present significant challenges for a safe rescue. The family is appealing for any available resources or expertise to address the situation promptly. This incident highlights the risks pets face when they climb or become trapped in elevated locations, and the importance of community support in such emergencies. The family has shared photos of Tinku on the pole, which have circulated widely on social media, prompting offers of help from neighbors and animal welfare organizations. Authorities are advising the public to avoid attempting to rescue the cat themselves to prevent further injury to the animal or the rescuer. The family remains hopeful that a professional team will be able to safely bring Tinku down from the pole as soon as possible.
