Oh I wasn’t aware of the Kaepernick story. I was thinking about the recent controversies around fic writing. But I then wonder what artists and art consumers think - and what about vidders? So. Yeah. Early thoughts.

Sounds like you might have multiple papers there; artists/consumers and then use that as a foundation for vidders/consumers. :) Or possibly a book (Bloomsbury have been low-stress to work with, if you're thinking that way).

This is layers of nerdy but: fan vidders, how do you organize your files? Raw files, actual editing projects, and sequences within those projects (I use Premiere Pro). Especially if you work with bands/music and anything where you’ve got lots of stages and smaller clips. This shit is dizzying.

2024 fandom ethics question! Vidukon vidshows run on Discord, which is a locked space. Chats are essentially comments, though, and vidders have expressed desire to keep them. It's not feasible to keep the channels available forever, but I'm p sure I could write a logger that logs the chat.

I'm just processing the vids to make sure they'll play, it's not my job to give creative concrit. Otoh some vidders might be upset to learn that I noticed issues and didn't say anything--let's say they got mixed up and sent an unfinished draft, and now the draft is playing bc I didn't contact them.

Remember to leave love for visual artists, vidders & podficcers as well—just appreciation & love for their talent & time. You don’t have to have an art degree to say what part of an image spoke to you.
