Universal soldier

Damaged fragment of a tombstone commemorating a #Roman auxiliary cavalryman from Whitcombe #Dorset in #DorsetMuseum

The full image probably showed the horse trampling on a Briton / Durotrigian 😲

Fragment of a tombstone commemorating a #Roman auxiliary cavalryman from Whitcombe #Dorset in @dorsetmuseum.bsky.social

The trooper's horse would originally have been trampling on a barbarian

Sadly the lower half, with his name and unit details, is missing

The rather smart perp font at St John the Baptist, Beckford is definitely enhanced by the pretty, later font cover. Added along with other woodwork when the firm Ford Whitcombe and Cogswell restored the church in 1911-12 they look perfect together.

Lovely autumnal morning at Ettington, #Warwickshire, yesterday, for #SteepleSaturday, church a subtle nod to the #ArtsandCrafts Movement by the architect, Charles Ford Whitcombe, 1902-3, the tower finished in a slightly strange fashion with a lead box affair by W K Shirley, 1908.

Fair play to Nadia Whitcombe for saying something - she’ll have the whip removed for it, just wait.

James Whitcombe should be replaced for that.

A prop throwing dummies and side stepping before diving over to score a try is just wrong.

Points are good. His actions as an ABC Club member not so much.

Here is where I am just not placing what book Whitcombe is referring to. Could you give my memory a jog?

it also came with Yet Another copy of Max Robertson’s “The Game of Mah Jong”

first published in 1938, up until the late 1990s this was the 4th best-selling book of all time in NZ – after Edmonds, Yates, and Whitcombe (I haven’t been able to source more recent statistics)

The village thurifer is found with the carotid artery slit with a hori-hori. Suspicion falls on Whitcombe Mallet’s not-so-earnest Hemingway society, deeply concerned that DIY genetic testing might threaten the planned civic centre.

A former Dr Who actor is found knocked unconcious with a knuckleduster then suffocated. Suspicion falls on Whitcombe Mallet’s Communist Party chapter, confused that a Brexit recount might threaten the local deer sanctuary.

A Caroline Graham fan is found crushed beneath a big pile of toilet paper. Suspicion falls on Whitcombe Mallet’s financially-embarrassed aristocrat, obsessed that white supremacists might threaten pizza deliveries.

I say this with the perspective of having had several phases of anorexia since 1999...

It's pretty fucking rich for Whitney Whitcombe to make her YT channel and book exist for fatshaming and then for her to go and skinny shame people for their suffering the consequences of the culture she promotes.
