yeah, Mattie, this is a little vein I’ve been noodling over for the comparison of Oil and Data. If Oil had the establishment vs wildcatters set of billionaire fights, it’s harder to do with tech, at least now. Maybe a few years ago I woulda said, Gates, Ellison, Bezos were close to establishment.

It's also not clear what the US is getting in terms of revived US investment in Venezuelan oil - the majors don't seem that keen so far. Deals that have been announced are largely wildcatters or firms with Venezuela experience (like, er, Betancourt's own NABEP)

Well hopefully they can squash this. There is no way to remediate an oil spill in the Arctic and the area is so remote. These are just crazy a$$ wildcatters trying to drill in an area where many have failed.
