The Master Returns: Ghost Prisoner (2024 Zhang Dicai) Zhang directs/stars as a Taoist priest in this Mr Vampire esque throwback. A bit slow to begin, but full of cool, Ching Siu-tung esque wire-fu battles in the back half. At 76 minutes, it doesn't waste your time either. Good fun!

The Master Returns: Ghost Prisoner (2024 Zhang Dicai) Zhang directs/stars as a Taoist priest in this Mr Vampire esque throwback. A bit slow to begin, but full of cool, Ching Siu-tung esque wire-fu battles in the back half. At 76 minutes, it doesn't waste your time either. Good fun!
Descendant of the Sun (1983) is a glorious maelstrom of this stuff at its most wonderfully fucking dumb. The wuxia wizardry, the lasers and animated blobs of energy, the wire fu ridiculousness and beam clashes, the climactic battles where entire scores of warriors and ghouls violently explode.
