Okay, I have a saggy middle. But my novel shouldn't. Here's how we avoid that.

Gonna kick off this account with photo evidence that I actually can do manual work. Painting prep for a friend’s cafe in Camberwell. #workingwriter #workingman #cafe #scaffold

As a working writer with a busy life, the low-residency format of the GPCW was perfect for me. I can hone my craft and connect with mentors without putting my life on hold. You can learn more at Western.edu/MFA.

I’m not writing from a cabin in the woods. I’m writing from a sink full of dishes, a pile of laundry, and a heart that refuses to shut up.

Most of my writing happens in the in-betweens:
between work and home,
between exhaustion and one more line,
between “I can’t do this” and “just finish the stanza.”
This book was carved out of scraps of time.

I did a book club visit today, drove our exchange student/daughter to the airport, and wrote a little on my new novel. Long nap. Husband is sickly. It was sunny but chilly: a good day to stay warm. #workingwriter
