Haven’t been on socials for the last couple of days and really quite embarrassed and alarmed to discover that someone who I had a lot of mutuals with and used to chat to quite a bit on the xbirdsite (and even on here!) has turned out to be a massive danger. Solidarity with his victims.

I know it’s not quite a controlled experiment but today was the first time I’ve posted a set of links here and the Xbirdsite at the same time, and experienced more immediate reaction here than there. So the shift seems to have occurred, at least from my own narrow perspective.

Bluesky is seeing the rapid arrival of broadsheet columnists which means people having opinions about broadsheet columnists which broadsheet columnists will write columns about before spending the week arguing about their columns on Bluesky. The cycle of the worst thing about xbirdsite begins again.

Yeah. Such a small team is doing an amazing job. I’d never criticise them for not having verification. Xbirdsite had it and it was good until some dope sold them off

Okay I’m suddenly using this app more. But wow, it has some serious functionality issues that I don’t have with that Xbirdsite. Reminds me of (in part) why in past efforts to migrate my main activity from there to here I’ve always gone back.

I agree and made a similar remark over at the Xbirdsite. But to be fair to pundits, this is true for most countries’ electoral systems.

I realize some folks are slow at adding bios but yeah, in general if you start following a ton of folks wothout any indication that you're not a bot, you'll get a lot of blocks until you fix it. People don't want this to become XBirdsite again and they can protect their peace more here.
IMPORTANT FOR NEW BSKY USERS
Please take the time to
1. Add a photo or banner
2. Add a short bio
3. Make a post or two
Otherwise you may find yourself being immediately blocked by many users as these are red flags for bot accounts (i usually only give ppl a day or two to fix this then block)

Endorse. I haven’t (yet) blocked anyone on this site. But the block list over on the Xbirdsite continues to grow.

Every day, the xbirdsite brings me a new delight.
Today, I am being haunted by ads about Chris Packham, a man I have not thought about in over a decade 💀

If you don’t mind a link to the Xbirdsite, an interesting note on third basemen.

"but you gotta debate them or else they'll never learn!" the fuck i do not. and the insistence will earn you a big fat block, too. blocks are free and unlimited, unlike the xbirdsite.
