The Victorian bridge, 1868, designed by G. Gordon Page, the designer of the Westminster Bridge in London. Built at the instigation of the landowner Major Henry Miles Stapleton to replace the ferry which had carried people across the Swale for 500 years as the Scots in 1319 destroyed the previous bridge. Can anyone in #HistorySky / #LocalHistory / #YorkshireHistory / #Yorkshire help me out with knowledge of 1970s Bridlington?
lostdiarist.bsky.social David Haraldson @lostdiarist.bsky.social · Aug 23
For ... "reasons," I'm thinking about 1970s Bridlington--the site of one of only two family holidays we had "when I were a lad."

Are there sources for the 1970s fishing fleet/ life? Would boats have sailed out to Doggerland? (I assume they would. But confirmation would be lovely.)
