It's in some ways worse. The places scares of scraping locked up 10 years ago w Sci-hub at all. All the captchas you are seeing now are sites desperately trying to stay online under a quasi DDoS onslaught of crude LLM bots

When we talk about the costs that LLMs impose on society we should not forget the fact that nothing works anymore because everyone is so scared of getting their shit scraped.

I can't even use google scholar from my university or starlink because they send too much traffic.

In general this is a huge problem. Google scholar in particular has always been extremely quick to lock up though, going back >10years

No sympathies for Brandon, but this is an incorrect reading of the dummy coefficients in the regression.
Each coefficient individually is against the baseline, so _everything else (included in the regression) being equal_ being a woman was associated w higher probability of having a TT job.

I maintain zotero-odf-scan.github.io/zotero-odf-s... which some like for Scrivener. Pros are that its citation syntax is more robust (no ambiguity, no missed citations) and that it converts into live citations, cons are that you need Word or LibreOffice & that the syntax is clumsier/longer
