#BannedBookWeek - 📖 By my 21st birthday, I'd read 4 'bad' books--2 banned by the Irish Censorship Board, 1 by the UK's Obscene Publications Act + a Heinrich Böll, attacked by the German press for his Nobel nomination. @booksky.bsky.social

My latest read:
As a lifelong reader, this novel by Charmaine Wilkerson ticked all the boxes:
✔️Multinational settings (Caribbean, UK, US)
✔️Past and present timelines
✔️Really, really lively characters
✔️Lives and loves built on family lies and what happens when those lies get discovered.

We had a great WWN chat about writing and #summerholidays last week.
It set me thinking about the effect of weather on our writing practice. I love blue skies and they definitely help my mental health. But they also tempt me go outside and to do nothing! So 50/50 on help vs hinder. What about you?

@writingabtwriting.bsky.social Writing = more than crafting good words on a page. It's about literary citizenship. Or Maya Angelou had it right: Folks (online or IRL) will remember how we made them *feel.* Willie Nelson ('don't be an a**hole') has it right, too.👇
