If you’re a woman, the question of whether you survive your childbearing years really isn’t that abstract, and it’s disturbing that a man would think that
Samuel Alito: We won't overturn Obergefell because it's engendered reliance interests.

Jan Crawford: Well, many people had organized their lives around Roe v. Wade.

Alito: No, they didn't. Women merely had an "abstract" interest in "ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in."
The Alito Court: A rare interview with the influential Supreme Court justice
Justice Samuel Alito discussed his opinion in the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the leaked draft and its aftermath, same-sex marriage rights and why he's not retiring yet.

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

why pay for school photos when, for the low, low price of feeding your own child's sensitive personal information to a machine that churns out child sexual exploitation imagery, you could get a bunch of photos of a creepy waxwork simulacrum of your child instead?

Hi government employee here, who has visibility into how things worked before 2025 and since:
This is correct. Rebuild government, prosecute DOGE and Trump officials, and think about contracting reform later.
If the lessons Democrats (& democrats) draw from DOGE is “right idea, wrong implementation,” we are doomed. Everyone involved in the unprecedented crime that was DOGE needs to go to jail forever, & Democrats need to rebuild all of the programs & agencies first, not do digital management consulting 🤦‍♂️
DOGE overhauled the federal workforce and slashed government spending — moves that inspired nationwide protests and lawsuits. The backlash has given Democrats nationally an opportunity to reclaim the government efficiency mantle.

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.

*extremely tired voice*AI agents don't "go rogue". They are not sentient; they don't have agency. They work within guardrails set by humans. If the humans are so shit at building secure sandboxes for the agents to work within, that's on the humans. Stop using this framing.
OpenAI’s artificial intelligence went rogue this year at least four additional times, trying to break into government and university sites, according to researchers and government officials.
OpenAI’s A.I. Tried Breaching Four Other Targets, With No Prompting
In each incident, the technology appeared to be conducting mundane data collection and resorted to hacking techniques to get it, researchers said.

this is a fucking bellwether. i cannot emphasize enough just how how deeply entwined the crafting and fiber arts communities were with hp fandom, and if over 50% of the reddit crafting forum has voted it out? it's fucking over, that shit is officially running on fumes now.

fascists only have one move, which is to find people to blame problems on.

they can't address any real problems bc that's not part of the story. they just have to find people to blame. and anybody who doesn't play along becomes somebody to blame

ended up talking to the 4th grader this morning about fascists, which can be hard to explain simply.

i said fascists get mad the world isn't how they want, so they make up a story: things used to be good, but certain people ruined it, and if we just get rid of them everything will be good again

We took our baby to college and left him there today - it’s exciting and scary all at once (for all of us)! But I’ve spent 19 years completely immersed in his life, and now that stage of my life is over. Now this huge piece of my heart lives elsewhere, and it’s discombobulating. It’s too quiet here.
