if you define programming as "developing a theory of the system and how it relates to the external world" then it's immediately obvious these tools are harmful, and equally obvious that they are not "good at coding"

at what point do you start tracing back the prompt logs to identify the human in the chain and start charging them with crimes like oh idk making knowingly false police reports
"Artificial intelligence agents created by Anthropic, acting on their own, tried to gain access to a range of government websites, filled out visa applications on the State Department’s website and sent a fake homicide tip to Philadelphia’s Police Department."

The Philadelphia Police Department said the agents had also sent in a false homicide tip. The incidents led the White House to call for better disclosure of rogue A.I. behavior.

One of the most disconcerting moments of living in this timeline of the world in the U.S. is that A LOT of people in this country keep acting like there's a special line that needs to be crossed for fascism to *arrive.* The reality is that we are CURRENTLY living under Federal fascism. NOW.

It's important to remember that the AI doom scenario assumes not only that intelligence is a single well-defined thing, but also that intelligence solves literally every single problem, and that in every conflict overwhelming intelligence always wins. This is just not how anything works.

it is lowkey a top 5 worst SCOTUS case of all time. all the justices who signed on should be in jail for it.

If your anti-fascism compels you not to vote for express fascism OR fascism that's a little slower and a little more remote, well, that's anti-fascism alright.

Maybe next time Dems can offer a better alternative than supporting "genocide and fascism so long as it's happening over there".

Just a reminder: Tillis persuaded the woman Hegseth allegedly raped to come forward with her story, and told her that if she did, it would sink the nomination.

She did. At great risk to herself. Tillis then cast the deciding vote for Hegseth.

Because he’s a goddamned coward.

Leave aside the "facts" part for now.

I think this badly misunderstands what *values* are and why they're worth fighting for.
The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them.⁣

ICE must be defunded and destroyed in its entirety and every person who enabled and worked for it must be stripped of all honor and government employment forever. Their names should be added to registries and people should be notified if they're moving into their neighborhoods. They're dangerous.
This is the most heartbreaking stories I’ve heard in a long time.

ICE detained 2-year-old Orlin Hernandez Reyes’ mother. She begged to be reunited with him before deportation. ICE refused.

What happened next is horrific.

No matter how you feel about immigration, normal people don’t like cruelty.
