Competitive balance is out of control in baseball!
Huge markets like Tampa, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Seattle are leading 5 of the 6 divisions! The Pirates are in last place in theirs, sporting a winning record better than the small market Mets, Red Sox, and Giants.

So many people think that the students who can't pay back their loans are going to like Vassar or Oberlin or even Harvard. In reality they're going to schools like Legends Barber College or Construction Training Center.

In 2008, there were 10 position players with 7+ fWAR. This year, there is only 1 (PCA).
Is there a trend in the concentration of talent (i.e. tighter distribution) with development? Play time innovations? Or maybe just an anomaly this year?

The other day, Michael Fulmer broke into the top 3 of miss distance for the year when this sweeper got Jose Siri to miss -- both early and east-west by nearly 49 inches. It certainly looks the part.

Leaving aside Ohtani (b/c now injured), ZiPS is projecting Pete Crow-Armstrong to be the *only* 7+ fWAR player this year (10.3 fWAR).
During my lifetime, there has *never* been a (non-COVID) season with fewer than two 7+ fWAR players. This is an enormous and historic MVP lead.

Whenever I hear people say "we need to exempt the NCAA from the law" after a judge rules that what the NCAA is doing is illegal, I just want to ask them: maybe the better path would be to create NCAA rules that aren't illegal?
