Just a little grey duck in a big grey world. He/him. (Not to be mistaken for ho/hum.) If I have a "main topic" it's the game #Satisfactory. My main textual output is (or should be, if I'm behaving myself) over at my not-a-blog: https://greyduck.net

This!

Which tells me, personally, that if they truly believe that its OK to make a sentient being that they enslave, well, they probably think it's ok to do that to humans.
What I don't get with the whole "AI is sentient" slop that they're trying to sell us is--surely if AI were sentient, it would be a living being and as such humans wouldn't be allowed to exploit AI with no pay, no rest and no workers rights?

A friend has Covid right now. They have lost their sense of smell and they're having cognitive problems.

This hit me today, as it often does: we made, and continue to make, a huge collective mistake in allowing a virus that impacts the brain to transmit unmitigated globally.

my strategies for dealing with debate perverts remains unmatched
tips:

- block annoying accounts without replying.
- log off if you feel yourself getting upset.
- ignore most discourse.
- if an account keeps arguing with randos, you probably want to unfollow them.
- mute words / phrases that you don’t like.

cleans up the app significantly. 👍

I truly believe that @yattatachi.com, @animefeminist.com, @okazu.yuricon.com, & @animeherald.com are still around because of spite, determination, sweat & tears, & the power of their communities. They continue to brave the storm. I hope more folks will discover them & help strengthen them.

Here's one for the X-Files fans in the audience. I took advantage of a rock-clearing failure in tonight's solo #Satisfactory session to throw a quick meme image together...

this is a symptom of what i say on here a lot: stuff u know that feels like stuff "everyone knows" usually isn't. so share it when it comes up.
Somehow not everyone is aware of fact alluded to below. So one more time:

John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett were all on GWBush 2000 'Florida Recount' team.

(Which made GWB first prez in 112 yrs to 'win' after losing popular vote. Now they 'impartially' rule on our future.)
Let me see if I've got this right. The team of lawyers who stole an election in Florida, and gave W the presidency, are now the Scotus team at the center of the GOP theft of our democracy.

I dunno man, it's kind of unsettling to see rampant gushing and uncritical praise for the new Gears of War game while the people who made it are literally being laid off. The very least you could do is mention the layoffs

This week's #Satisfactory write-up about trucks-and-stuff includes a sneaky link to one of the game session archive videos that @newbiespud.bsky.social made of our old co-op family save. Hint: It involves racing in a game not designed for racing. Enjoy, won't you please?
Satisfactory: Six-Wheelers
I finished the Packaged Fuel (and other products) facility this week. I'm using this opportunity to introduce trucks to my transportation system. Explorer pictured partly for size comparison, but most...

Oh boy. @shadowtodd.bsky.social went at (yeah, I admit it) my favorite Rick Springfield album, and...

... no, yeah, 100% fair, I can't really argue with anything he's said in the video. (I was 13 when that album dropped; all that synth chaos was *directly* in my brain's strikezone. What can I say?)

Guys, it feels like some of these financial mechanisms are abominations that should not have existed in the first place, even before the GenSlop bubble.

So my "Fortune's Weave Staycation" has netted me a couple of chapters' worth of progress on Leda's route, and I'll probably eke out another chapter or so over the weekend.

Clearly I'm not racing to the finish on this one. I'm not that kind of gamer.

One of these stupid cars drove through a farmers market over the weekend, and because there's no driver... There's no one to ticket?

So they can just like, break whatever traffic laws for the time being because the city didnt put laws in place before allowing this company to operate.
I just don't think there should be cars on the road with less than one person in them...and I don't think that's a particularly radical pov.

The goal should be fewer cars with more people in them, and we seem to somehow added cars with zero people into the mix?

The biggest challenge for the US political system is reforming itself so that it can work with regular alternation in party control without either party trying to murder the other party's voters with secret police outside the law or, more generally, ignoring our Constitution.
